This is an exciting opportunity to drive the fundraising activities related to corporate, foundation, and government grants for USES. S/he is a frontline fundraiser and project manager with experience building and maintaining donor relationships. S/he will work in collaboration with a team of Program Directors, the Evaluation Manager, and the Vice President of Development to develop a deep understanding of USES’s program model, its impact, and the successes of our participants. S/he will research trends in philanthropy and data relevant to our programs and outcomes. The Institutional Giving Manager will set ambitious targets for revenue growth and develop the relationships necessary to secure funding and achieve our goals. In joining our growing development staff, there is an opportunity to work closely with a team of committed development and marketing professionals and learn from the expertise of experienced mentors. The Institutional Giving Manager reports to and partners with the Vice President of Development.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Commitment to USES’s mission
2. Three or more years of substantial experience in building corporate and foundation relationships including public and private grant writing
3. Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal)
4. Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks
5. Extroverted personality and an eagerness to attend events and meetings to make new connections
6. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
7. Ability to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take initiative and be a self-starter
10. Flexibility to work during weekends and evenings as needed.
11. Bachelor’s degree is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as lead grant writer and oversee grant management and reporting function of public, private foundation, and corporate grants and grow USES’s Foundation support from $300,000 in FY16 to $450,000 in FY20.
Partner with the Vice President of Development to set annual goals and track progress.
Expand our pipeline of foundation and corporate prospects at the $25,000 level.
Grow and manage a portfolio of 100-150 institutional relationships with a focus on building strong, sustainable relationships with on-going touchpoints throughout the year.
Manage using Salesforce, the application and reporting process for complex foundation and government proposals with compelling narratives (rational and emotional)
Research statistics, trends, and best practices to strengthen proposal language on both the needs of our community and our two-generation model.
Partner with Vice President of Programs, Program Directors, and Director of Marketing to ensure that proposal and report language remains up-to-date on program development, outcomes, and USES’s messaging.
Serve as a representative of USES by attending community meetings, events at our partner organizations, civic gatherings, etc. to raise USES’s visibility and make connections to donors and prospects.
Solicit and steward corporate sponsorship partners for The Neighborhood Gala and other USES events/initiatives as opportunities allow.
Develop relationships with USES program staff and participants to understand the impact of our programs and create content that spotlights our successes.
Actively work to build a culture of transparency, collaboration, and excellence on our leadership team and throughout the organization.
