Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated fundraiser to play a pivotal role in the growth of a leading not-for-profit pageantry organization. With competing drum corps, a band association, an Allentown based dance program, and band director and student based educational effort, YEA! is an important and well known youth agency, located currently in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania.In detail, YEA!'s programs include:The Cadets - 10-Time World Champion Drum and Bugle CorpsCadets2 - 2016 World Champion Drum and Bugle CorpsXcape Dance Studio - Hip-Hop Dance CompanyUSBands - The largest sanctioning body for scholastic music competitions in the United StatesFounded in 1990, Youth Education in the Arts affords young members the opportunity to participate in some of the most prestigious events in the world. Each year YEA! members participate in numerous high-profile ceremonies celebrating sporting events and political inaugurations as well as movie premieres and television commercials. YEA! performers have most recently performed with recording acts such as Shania Twain and Destiny's Child, appeared on MTV, the Late Show with David Letterman and the Today Show, as well as being featured performers in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. YEA! has also provided ensembles for professional sports teams including the New York Jets, New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets.In the organization's illustrious history, YEA! performers have had the unique experience to appear most notably at the Summer Olympic Games, the Major-League Baseball All-Star Game, the World Cup and other notable national and international sporting events.While amassing a long and storied tradition, YEA! groups have been recognized as World Champions in various disciplines. Over 1,500 members have had the experience of winning gold medals for their performances, quite possibly an honor they would not be able to realize in any other part of their lives.YEA! invites the world of tomorrow and makes a huge difference in the lives of thousands of young people each year. Within the programs of YEA! young people gain an edge. They learn to cooperate, they learn to set goals, they work long and hard and they learn what it takes to be a success!The PositionAs an Associate Director, the person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting in and delivering on the overall fundraising strategy of the organization, supplementing existing funding with unrestricted funding from individuals, corporates, grant-makers and other sources.Current projects rely heavily on direct mail including:- An Annual Campaign- A Holiday Campaign - A Summer Campaign - And various special requestsWithin each of these efforts there are a number of tasks including:- Data management- Coordination of the mailing of the letters and requests - Coordination of the electronic marketing - Premium shipping post donation - Answering questions and concernsAnd most importantly the Associate Director of Fundraising and Donor Relations will work directly with alumni, donors, friends and fans. We have more than10,000 people who interact with the organization over the space of a year, and although we do not expect to speak to each person each year, we do wish the keep the channels of discussion open.- Sending notes and reminders:- Birthday cards - Calls of thanks - Updates on coming eventsThese and other ideas are all within the context of the Associate Director’s Role.Coordination will be ongoing with marketing, technology, The Cadets, Cadets2, and USBands. Initially the Associate Director will work directly with the Director of Marketing and it will be very important that the person selected has the ability to set goals, manage their work, and communicate across departmental lines. The CEO and Director of Marketing at YEA! traditionally participate in a good percentage of the fundraising so as the Associate Director in this compact department, you will spend a good deal of time in collaborating and developing clear strategyAs a small not-for-profit, it is essential that the entire team support the efforts of other departments and in fact WE DO. You can be assured of assistance with many of your projects.Time Commitment and Extra HoursYEA! is based in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania and it is important that the person be IN the office.Work hours for the development function can change. Our normal office hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. but with campaigns, the need to contact donors, and other activity, we can have a discussion to alter the hours to something more applicable. Past fund raising personnel have worked from 11:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.Donors and friends are out at our events on weekends so it is expected that the Associate Director will stop by rehearsals for the corps, attend and be a part of special events, and support fundraising events and receptions. In addition, through USBands, the organization manages 130 events each fall and winter. On key weekends, we ask all to participate. This would include Saturdays in October and November, and occasional weekends in the spring and summer.Do you love band?We have had folks successfully be a part of YEA! and NOT come from the band world, but the past tells us that loving high school music programs, drum corps, color guard, indoor percussion programs or even the high school musicals helps a great deal. As you can see there is a great deal of work and it is beneficial to LOVE IT. Is this you?Benefits Depending on your experience this can be an entry-level position (30K) or more of a managing role (40K). Benefits include three weeks of PTO, 13 Holidays, a Medical plan partially subsidized by YEA! and a retirement plan.Start DateWe will wait for the correct person but the opening is immediate.
