About Marist College Advancement

As Marist has grown, so have its development efforts. The College successfully completed its first comprehensive campaign in 2012, raising nearly $160 million on an ambitious goal of $150 million. 14,388 donors contributed to the

Campaign for Marist

, including 21 gifts of $1 million or more. Significant support was secured for major capital initiatives, the faculty, and the establishment of more than 40 new endowed scholarships.

In 2009, Marist received an extraordinary $75 million bequest from industrialist Raymond A. Rich, the largest gift in the history of the College and a cornerstone of the campaign. The bequest consisted of a 60-acre riverfront estate that contains The Payne Mansion, one of the most historically and architecturally significant homes in the Hudson River Valley and a $10 million endowment to support the Raymond A. Rich Institute for Leadership Development, housed at the estate.

The College''s alumni, now more than 39,000 strong, are highly engaged. Alumni are increasingly successful in their careers and supporting Marist in growing numbers. Additionally, Marist has an impressive record of development success with prominent philanthropists in the surrounding region. The institution also benefits greatly from an expanding cadre of highly supportive parents.

The Advancement team consists of 23 individuals working in four departments including development, alumni relations, advancement services, and public affairs.

The Campus

Marist College is a comprehensive, independent, liberal arts institution located in the historic Hudson River Valley of New York State, midway between New York City and Albany, the state capital. Situated on a 210-acre campus overlooking the Hudson River, it enrolls 4,787 traditional undergraduate, 799 graduate, and 543 continuing education students. Marist also has a branch campus in Florence, Italy, and extension sites throughout New York. Marist has been recognized for excellence by

U.S. News & World Report, TIME Magazine, The Princeton Review''s The Best 379 Colleges,

and

Barron''s Best Buys in College Education

, and is noted for being a pioneer in the area of online degree programs.

More than $200 million in capital construction and improvements have been completed on the Marist College campus over the past decade. The Hancock Center, a technology building designed by Robert A. M. Stern, was completed in spring 2011. August 2011, the College opened a new pedestrian underpass that provides a safe, direct link for those wishing to cross Route 9. The McCann Recreation Center recently received a $7.5 million makeover. The spring 2014 semester saw the completion of the new Multipurpose Academic Building and renovated Student Center projects. The buildings are not being fully utilized by students, faculty, and staff. Currently, a new science and allied health building, which will house the College''s new Physician Assistant Program, is nearing completion and is due to open early next year. Finally, work has begun on the North Campus Housing project, a major new initiative to meet strong student demand for on-campus housing.
