Supported by private philanthropy, the DRIF ensures the jumpstarting of new ideas and the continuation of innovative research projects that remain cure-focused and will ultimately benefit those with diabetes.
Position Overview:
The Development Assistant and Office Manager in the Manhattan office of the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (DRIF) will be responsible for providing administrative support to Development and Event staff. The Development Assistant will interact not only with members of staff, but also with board members, committee members, donors, volunteers, vendors, and the general public. The Development Assistant will be required to attend/assist at fundraising events and perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities and Functions:
This candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Administrative
Serve as receptionist for visitors and callers
Arrange
meetings/conference
calls
Coordinate staff travel and calendars
Produce mass mailings and assemble information kits
Purchase and organize office supplies
Reconcile invoices
Arrange for office services and handle maintenance issues
Troubleshoot office technology issues and coordinate with vendors
Photocopy, fax, scan, file
Review weekly donor reports
Prepare acknowledgment communications
Process donations
Update Raisers Edge fundraising database
Attend and assist at special events and offsite meetings; some of which occur on evenings and weekends
Assist with work leading up to events, including but not limited to:
Donor Acknowledgements
Donor Data
Special Events
o event webpage design and update
o creating PowerPoint/Media Loop presentations
o interacting with donors and volunteers
o registration and auction set-up
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
One to two years experience in a non-profit fundraising organization
Bachelors degree preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web browsers
Experience with Raisers Edge is preferred
Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed
Detail-oriented team player with a strong work ethic
Professional and positive attitude
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external constituencies
Ability to establish priorities, handle overlapping timelines, and meet deadlines effectively and efficiently
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Flexible, resourceful, and able to learn quickly
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
Physical ability to be on feet for extended periods of time (at events), standing, walking & carrying items and be able to be able to lift and move light- to moderately heavy objects
Experience in dealing with vendors, donors, and the general public
