Position: Manufacturing Engineer Plastics (MFE)

Location: Gainesville, GA

Reports to: Manufacturing Manager / Business Unit General Manager

The Manufacturing Engineer Plastics (MFE) is responsible for the proper functioning of the manufacturing processes at IMS Gear. The major job responsibilities include:

Specifies, purchases, coordinates, installs, samples, schedules, troubleshoots, maintains and improves any and all production process in the area assigned

Supports, maintains and uses the TS16949 quality system to ensure production of quality parts

Works with Customers and Suppliers as needed to support APQP, Production, Delivery, Cost and or Quality issues

Conduct accurate samples and qualify new tools and processes

Working knowledge of CNC controlled robots, including troubleshooting automated processes in a hands-on approach

Basic ability to set molds and troubleshoot maintenance on injection molding machines

Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges and other measurement tools, including optical CMM

Basic capabilities to set molds and troubleshoot maintenance on injection molding machines

Expertise in the metric system

Additional Responsibilities:

Ensures a safe clean working environment

Ensures 100% conformance to IMS Gear Quality System in production operations

Leads APQP and problem solving processes

Participates in TS 16949 quality systems assignments

Achieves all established company goals including continuous improvement programs

Works positively and communicates well in a team environment

Works with all other functions in the Business Unit to ensure the smooth efficient operation of the process in his control

Leads and trains the production and support employees to achieve the level of performance needed

Knows and reports the daily status of production and quality (SPC, Cpk, etc.) of all process in his/her control and initiates improvement as identified

Performs related engineering duties as assigned

On call when required

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in engineering or significant direct work experience

Manufacturing experience (3-5 years) in a high volume, precision driven production environment

Ability to work hands-on with Operating team members in a production environment

Computer skills (MS Office) with Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel (MS Excel)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Logical and analytical problem solving skills

Desirable Experience:

Automotive experience, preferred

Experience with ISO quality requirements, preferred
