Operating as a result of a ~$600K annual budget and four full-time staff, **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is positioned to expand its programming and community. The Director of Development (DoD) will serve as a key partner to the Executive Producer in managing current funder relationships as well as prospecting for new funders. The DoD’s annual revenue goal will be $600K - $800K, with the aspiration of growing the budget 5-7% annually. The big picture opportunity for the DoD will be to provide leadership overseeing all revenue generating activities, managing all donor relationships, designing donor-centric events, and taking ownership of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s funder network inclusive of both individuals and institutional partners.
Job roles & responsibilities
Partner with the Executive Producer to raise $600K - $800K annually;
Manage a donor portfolio of 30 - 35 individual major donors each giving $5K - $50K annually;
Manage all activities and requirements of 10-15 foundations giving $10K - $100K annually;
Co-design donor events and receptions in partnership with the team to develop engagement platforms for major and prospective individuals donors (these include the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Connect series and the Schneider Awards);
Oversee and administer the Advisory Council and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Stewards affinity circles, with goals of renewal and upsells wherever possible;
Partner with the Commonwealth Club Development team on all moves management activities and donor database requirements to ensure streamlined donor engagement and gift processing;
Provide writing and copy editing for all donor communications and marketing across print and digital platforms (e.g. Web site maintenance and strategy, quarterly newsletters.
Five to seven years in an externally facing fundraising role and/or as many years in grant writing and proposal development at a senior level with foundations.
Demonstrated track record of cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a donor portfolio on budget and in alignment with growth goals.
Demonstrated success working on teams with flexibility and creativity, and in partnership with a range of roles, from the CEO of the Commonwealth Club and Executive Producer of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., to the Development team and program teams of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; track record of managing up to a senior executive and with ability to “ghost write” and co-create content with senior leaders.
Experience in event design and strategy as well as implementation and follow up activities.
Willingness to learn on the job, take on new tasks that support the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. team and revenue goals, and author new initiatives that enable the brand and generate revenue.
Proficiency in the field of renewable energy, climate, or environmentalism, and an openness to continue learning.

PLEASE NOTE: We currently have this role designed to be four days/week with flexibility to grow up to full-time as revenue grows over time. Thus our salary range is negotiable and should also be considered for an ~80% FTE role.
