The Office of Research Urban Futures department at the University of Cincinnati is looking for a Project and Grant Specialist to provide a premium level of research support to the Urban Futures research team. The position will conduct all pre-and post-award research activities, including proposal submission, project management; also requires critical thinking and analytical skills. This position will report to the Associate Vice President.

 

JOB DUTIES

*Prepare, review and submit sponsored program proposals to sponsors. *Project management. *Serve as a resource for sponsored program guidelines, policies and procedures. *Identify potential sponsored research opportunities, including familiarity with common grant opportunity databases (e.g., SPIN) and experience in communicating with a variety of program sponsors. *Collaborate with Sponsored Research Services and the UC Foundation as necessary in preparing and reconciling monthly business reports and other financial transactions. *Provide financial monitoring and reporting for sponsored programs including foundations, federal and other agencies. *Post award duties include award set up and management for financial and regulatory compliance, meet regularly with Principal Investigators (PIs) for expense reporting and projects, and processing reports and transactions, including subcontract activity from start to close out. *Assist with non-grant related activities as identified or otherwise approved by the AVPR.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS   

Bachelor's degree with two (2) years' experience; -OR- Associate's degree with four (4) years' experience; -OR- six (6) years' experience; degree must be in accounting or related field with related accounting experience. Incumbent must possess the business/fiscal experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all work assignments.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

*2 years pre-and post-award experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. *Proven experience with DOD, NSF, NIH and other federal granting agencies. *Proven experience managing major, multi-institution, complex proposals. *Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe applications. *Experience with grant management systems Coeus and/or Kuali. *Experience working in higher education and with faculty.
