Job Summary\r
The Donor Relations Specialist is responsible for executing major gifts strategies in support of Seattle Goodwill. As part of the Philanthropy team, this position will play a key role in Seattle Goodwill's efforts to secure annual departmental revenue goals. She\/he will have a strategic vision and demonstrate creativity in implementing a plan achieving the development and growth of the organization's major gift efforts. \r
Essential Functions:\r
Develop ongoing relationships with major donors for the benefit of Seattle Goodwill by: \r
Managing an assigned portfolio of 150 major donors and prospective donors with the potential to make $1,000 annual gifts and\/or multi-year pledges; personally solicit assigned donor portfolio, including preparation of personalized materials.\r
Achieve annual revenue goals and assist in meeting departmental goals. \r
Support leadership team, director of philanthropy and philanthropy manager in all aspects of solicitation; participate in high level meetings and planning sessions.\r
Participate in the design of the major giving program including portfolio assignment, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation strategies, major donor events planning and major donor communications and collateral.\r
Enhance the positive image of Goodwill in the community by developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders and organizations. \r
Collaborate with Job Training & Education staff to determine funding opportunities and develop in-depth funding proposals. \r
Manage and update portfolio through documentation, reporting and database management.\r
Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to donor\/prospect information. \r
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. \r
Works closely with VP Advancement, Director of Philanthropy and Philanthropy Manager.\r
Uphold safe work practices in support of a safety culture through awareness and observation; reports any potential hazards or accidents.\r
Perform other duties as assigned. \r

Minimum Job Requirements\r
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience. \r
Experience: 4 years in nonprofit Development, at least 2 of which have been in major gifts and frontline fundraising.\r
Specific Skills\/Knowledge\/Licenses: Familiarity with all aspects of fundraising principles and practices; knowledge of annual giving\/direct mail, event strategies and planned giving particularly important. Familiarity with Constituent Relationship Management tools and other database management for donors. Believes in and adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals' (AFP) Code of Ethical Principals and Standards.\r
Flexibility and ability to work as a team player with a wide range of constituents and colleagues. \r
Sense of humor and a positive, \can-do\ attitude.\r
Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively and professionally with executive staff and board members and to build productive relationships with high net worth donors and major gifts prospects.\r
Commitment to goal attainment, high degree of initiative, and ability to motivate and engage high level volunteers and donors.\r
Demonstrated ability to work with high degree of autonomy and accountability and to be a team player.\r
Ability to develop and follow through on creative and effective solicitation strategies and to generate enthusiasm for them among team members.\r
Strong interest in workforce development and\/or familiarity with Seattle philanthropic circles preferred. \r
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). \r
Essential Physical Abilities:\r
Able to safely lift\/push\/pull up to 10 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms. Able to traverse a wide variety of physical environments without assistance including uneven surfaces and stairs. Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing; including those who have limited English skills, large groups and small groups and individuals. Able to use standard office equipment without assistance. Maintain reliable attendance.\r

Working Conditions:\r
Office environment, moderate noise level. Must have reliable transportation as this position requires travel to offsite meetings and events within Seattle Goodwill's territory.  Able to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional nights and weekends.\r
