Description ---The internal title for this position is Sponsored Programs Coordinator (SPC). The SPC position is responsible for administration of sponsored programs to include proposal review and submission signature authority; grant or contract negotiation and acceptance; post award (non-fiscal) administration; subcontract requests; administrative services to project directors; maintenance of Research Services files concerning sponsored program contacts and grants; and closeouts/terminations of grants and contracts.The duties include but are not limited to: reviews/signs proposals for submission to outside funding agencies for grant or contract-supported projects negotiates with sponsor agencies on project budgets, cost-sharing requirements, grant/contract terms, modifications, extensions, terminations, and related matters negotiates agreements where University is subcontractor to other institutions acts as liaison between investigators, Post Award Financial Services, and sponsors as necessary to facilitate performance of projects and alleviate problems drafts correspondence or prepares paperwork as necessary to accept, modify, or reject grants or contracts contacts awarding agencies to verify status of proposals or obtain other information if requested and responds to requests from awarding agencies for proposal and grant related information responsible for assuring compliance to terms and conditions of monetary awards according to the standards and guidelines outlined by the University, the state, and the federal government Job Requirements --- Required Education: Bachelor Degreeu00a0or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND: 24 months experience in grants and contracts negotiation and administration Skills : Knowledge of standard bookkeeping and accounting procedures Advanced excel skills with ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets Financial or accounting experience to include analysis, auditing and budgeting Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions Advanced computer skills with wide knowledge of business software Proficient in Microsoft Office Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines Strong initiative to solve problems Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations Certifications : None Advertised Physical Requirements: Must be able to handle high-volume stress from a deadline-driven position. Must be able to communicate on a daily basis with a diverse group of individuals. Daily engagement of repetitive motions including, but not limited to, typing, filing, adding machine calculations, etc. Departmental Preferences: Familiarity with electronic research administration (i.e. Cayuse, Fastlane, grants.gov, etc.) Certification as a Certified Research Administrator OR Certified Preaward Research Administrator Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
