In this highly visible role you will manage giving for trusts and estates, legacies, bequests, charitable and deferred gift annuities. In addition, you will educate donors/advisors, develop proposals supporting planned giving opportunities, and implement relevant marketing-related opportunities that will help to ensure the achievement of goals.
Cultivating donors and prospects, attorneys, trustees and other professionals for the purpose of promoting gifts
Ensuring a pipeline of planned gifts and major gift prospects and/or donors
Planning, coordinating and overseeing the implementation of all planned giving mailings/events
Managing approximately 250 open trusts and estates to insure timely distribution of bequests
Preparing planned gift proposals to donors for gifts of bequests, charitable and deferred gift annuities and other planned gifts
Overseeing and ensuring the attainment of specific fiscal goals
Educating prospective donors and advisors on charitable gifts and estate planning to meld the financial and charitable objectives of donors
Planning and implementing an integrated marketing plan for the promotion of planned giving, including newsletter articles, mailings, website and ads in journals
Evaluate ongoing marketing efforts for effectiveness
Working with Communications and Marketing staff to draft planned giving newsletter articles and planned giving information for the website and social media
Preparing and coordinating filings of all state government annual reports, as required for the charitable gift annuity program, including annual reports and audits for state certifications
Developing and planning effective fundraising strategies for identified prospects in order to move donors along the continuum of giving by establishing annual, major and planned gifts
Handling other management related functions as necessary
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred), 5-7 years of progressively responsible fundraising and management experience, and demonstrated track record of raising support. Knowledge of annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate giving, special events and capital campaigns are all essential, as is the ability to meet/exceed goals, lead marketing efforts, and develop budgets. Superior presentation, interpersonal, motivational and leadership skills are a must. Excellent organizational, oral/written communication, PC and follow-through skills will be expected.
