The Development Coordinator is a highly motivated professional who can help grow the corporate support and individual giving/Campaign development functions at the AOA. The Coordinator has developed good project management skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has excellent technology and administrative skills. Excellent organization skills are necessary to be successful in this position and advance fundraising goals. The ability to communicate effectively to maintain strong relationships with staff, surgeon leadership, members and corporate donors is critical.
Specific Responsibilities:
Perform the day-to-day development implementation responsibilities and execution of corporate and individual philanthropy dollars to support key AOA programs and activities.
Research and qualify corporations/foundations for support of AOA programs and initiatives.
As part of the team that sets the strategy and direction of development efforts, identify and implement the steps to execute the strategy.
Develop, coordinate, and implement the funding request proposal and submission process.
Manage all grant portal submissions, including key deadlines.
Develop reports for leadership, as requested.
Build relationships with key contacts at companies and in the orthopaedic community.
Perform the ongoing management of approved funds/grants that include reporting, budget reconciliation, funding extension and any outcomes reporting.
Assist/implement the planning and execution of annual corporate and individual stewardship events.
Maintain inventory and supervise allocation of any inventory for sponsor activation and stewardship needs.
Maintain and assure consistency of the corporate partnership strategy/prospectus including key benefits and applicable fees. Assure coordination of any departures from pre-approved packages in conjunction with Development Director.
Manage a calendar/action grid of grant reporting deadlines; produce high-quality program reports on deadline.
In collaboration with staff, develop a prospectus, case statements and other materials as needed to garner corporate and individual support.
Coordinate and develop communications and presentations.
Assist Development Director with Development Committee management and develop agenda materials/reports, as requested.
Build/maintain/manage database of development activity.
Assure completion and submission of any reconciliation required by donors and provide “ROI” results, satisfaction surveys and/or other feedback from supported events to donors; assist in development of “AOA Updates” and other stewardship tools.
Create trending and analysis reports to help promote the AOA and understand strengths and weaknesses.
Ensure Sunshine Act reporting is complete and
Assure programming staff coordination/representation with donors at AOA events or meetings.
Maintain appropriate tracking tools accessible to staff, as defined and developed with supervisor.
Establish and maintain needed state registrations for fundraising activities.
Other duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities:
Perform general administrative duties including establishing and maintaining tracking systems, files and documenting policies and procedures pertinent to the position and the development department.
Refine and assure consistency in corporate/foundation agreements, pledge documents, and other donation records.
Understand, communicate and advance overall AOA strategic objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience in development, including management of grant portal submissions, detailed reconciliation/reporting work, and demonstrated project management. Marketing experience a plus. Association experience preferred. Prior experience with medical or healthcare professionals and the medical device/pharmaceutical industries preferred.

Broad, solid understanding of mission, goals and objectives of society, as well as strong understanding of how the independent program activities meet these
Must stay current in the profession and be knowledgeable of industry standards, trends, and new procedures and
Willingness to work extra hours during busy periods to assure deadlines are met
