We are currently seeking an accomplished leader as our new Director of Development and Major Gifts. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Development and Major Gifts (DoD) will lead a team and program ready for executing significant growth in revenue.   The new DoD will have solid experience in development operations, including annual funds, foundation giving, alumnae relations and special events; as well as an emphasis on mentoring staff, and establishing and overseeing organizational systems, measures, forecasting, and accountabilities. The DoD will also carry a portfolio of major gift prospects to support the capital campaign program of the school.   The ideal candidate will be: A manager who leads by example and exemplifies the values and ethics of the school. An individual who will accept responsibility and take charge of results.   Essential Job Functions   SUPERVISION:  The DOD manages a staff of four including direct supervision of the Director of the Annual Fund and Foundation Giving, the Database Manager, Director of Alumnae Relations, and the Special Events Manager.  Supervisory responsibilities are full scope including recruiting, hiring, training, staff development, team building, evaluating, counseling and terminating. The DOD is also expected to foster employee development, engagement and retention.   OPERATIONS: Oversight of development operating functions described above Including oversight of annual Golf Tournament and GALA fundraising event and oversight of alumnae program that seeks to attract and involve alumnae in the successes of the school. In addition, manages endowment reporting and oversees stewardship and recognition programs with feedback and necessary check off systems.   MAJOR GIFT FUNDRAISING: With the DoA, broaden and develop a robust major and planned giving program. Manages a substantive portfolio of major gift prospects. Assures appropriate prospect research; maintenance of donor and prospect records, gift management systems and informational reports.   REPORTING: Monitor results and oversee performance measures (e.g., ROI analysis) to help DoA evaluate the effectiveness of the advancement program.   BUDGETING: Team with the finance department to assure sound fiscal operation of areas of responsibility, including setting budgets, monitoring revenue and spending and regularly projecting results.   Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Higher or professional degrees and/or advanced fundraising certificate preferred. A minimum of seven years of fundraising experience with three years of management experience with increasing levels of responsibility, specifically in annual funds, grant writing and alumnae relations.   Nominations and applications are welcome.
