Reporting to the Director of Development (DOD) and working with other staff and volunteers, the Donor Relations Manager is responsible for the stewardship of all donors to the library along with identifying and developing engagement programming for the library’s emerging constituencies.
This person will contribute to the mission of library development by maximizing financial gifts and nurturing an environment that attracts and is conducive to planned giving.
This role requires a unique combination of fundraising and strategic proficiencies and will provide comprehensive support with a focus on exceptional customer service, skilled data management and reporting, event logistics and donor stewardship.

Stewardship and Donor Relations :
Participate in strategy discussions with Major Gift Officer (MGO) and DOD to develop stewardship plans for donors
Process gifts, generate gift acknowledgments and update donor records
Review gift agreements and confirm stewardship plans
Create donor impact reports on bi-annual basis for endowments and funds (including impact reports to Annual Fund donors)
Plan, manage, and execute Library Development events and activities including the Library’s Annual Donor reception
Steward Faculty, Staff and Retiree’s and recurring library donors
Follow through with internal partners and the Office of University Development (OUD) on Gift in Kind (GIK) transmittal processes
Track new funds (greater than $10,000) and inform appropriate stakeholders with fund amount, purpose and expectations
Enter affiliation tags in DART and identify engagement opportunities with emerging giving constituencies
Monitor activity on restricted funds to ensure accuracy
Operations :
Respond to inquiries about fund purpose from donors and library staff
Gather signatures on gift agreements and submit final copy to donors
Collaborate with Library Finance team on donor budget related activities and payments
Work with Library Communications team to track and record communication correspondence codes
Request marketing efforts for direct mail projects, magazine and event mailings
Reroute checks delivered to the Library to the lockbox or Gift and Records Administration (GRA) as needed
Data Management and Analytics :
Serve as primary lead for the donor database, including prospect research, infrastructure, protocols, data entry, gift processing and report writing
Annual Giving :
Collaborate with MGO to identify lead annual giving prospects and create stewardship plan
Serve as liaison for University Annual Giving (UAG). Responsibilities include; reviewing telefund opportunities as well as tracking revenue for internal and external mail appeals
Attend quarterly meetings coordinated by Office of University Development (OUD)
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor’s degree and at least three to five years of development and fundraising experience preferably in higher education or in other large, complex institutions
Experience with creating and implementing comprehensive stewardship plans for donors
Skilled with using Microsoft Office and customer relations management software
Experience with running query reports and merging data
Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and excellent interpersonal communication skills
Strong relationship-building skills and proven ability to succeed in team environments
Willingness to travel for donor cultivation and stewardship events
Ability to understand diverse perspectives and acknowledge the significance of differences and complexities in background, cultures, values and viewpoints as the foundation for an inclusive environment.
Desired Qualifications*
Experience with DART (Donor Alumni Relationship Tool) software
Experience with Peoplesoft, Business Objects
