(CSG) Justice Center is a national nonprofit organization that provides practical, nonpartisan, research-driven strategies and tools to increase public safety and strengthen communities. The CSG Justice Center works closely with legislative leaders, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, victim advocates, and others to develop consensus on various criminal justice issues and to translate this consensus into comprehensive reports, policy briefs, state and federal legislation, model policies, and innovative programs. The CSG Justice Center develops written and web-based materials, conducts complex data analysis, and provides on-the-ground technical assistance to policymakers and practitioners from multiple systems (corrections, behavioral health, law enforcement, etc.), in state and local jurisdictions.rnJOB SUMMARY**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Justice Center director of development is responsible for meeting or exceeding all development goals for the CSG Justice Center and supporting the development goals of CSG. Working in consultation with the CSG director of advancement, and at the direction of the CSG Justice Center director, the CSG Justice Center director of development will secure financial support from individuals, private sector entities and foundations to help advance the mission and priorities of the CSG Justice Center and CSG.rnESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESrnrnServe as a member of the CSG Justice Center senior leadership team, participating in the development of organization-wide vision and strategy. rnAt the direction of the CSG Justice Center director and in consultation with the CSG director of advancement, create and manage the implementation of a fundraising plan that identifies specific fundraising goals and the strategies necessary to successfully achieve those goals. rnExecute the fundraising plan to achieve the goals stated. rnWork as directed with the CSG Justice Center Advisory Board, its officers and executive committee to appropriately and successfully engage board members in development activities. rnWork at the direction of the CSG Justice Center director and in close collaboration with the CSG director of advancement to maximize financial support for the CSG Justice Center and CSG. rnProvide input to the CSG director of advancement on the overall CSG development plan and work to help achieve the goals stated in that plan. rnIdentify donor prospects, cultivation strategies and retention strategies, and develop collateral materials to support the same. rnWork to diversify funding sources for the CSG Justice Center. rnAct as chief adviser to the director of the CSG Justice Center on the development and deployment of strategies to achieve fundraising goals. rnStrategically leverage CSG Justice Center initiatives, programs, activities and research reports to enhance private support for the center. rnAdhere to the highest ethical standards of the fundraising profession in compliance with the CSG Guidelines for the Solicitation and Acceptance of External Funds. rnOn behalf of the CSG Justice Center director and the CSG director of advancement, cultivate new and retain existing members of the CSG Justice Center Business Advisory Council. rnSecure financial support for the CSG Justice Center from appropriate private sector sources and high net worth individual donors. rnServe as a resource to CSG Justice Center colleagues to help identify funding opportunities, including government and foundation grants, and coordinate efforts to secure funding. rnWork in a manner consistent with CSG's status as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. rnIn coordination with CSG Justice Center senior management, monitor and ensure deliverables and project outcomes are produced as communicated to donors. rnRigorously communicate development activities to the director of the CSG Justice Center, the CSG director of advancement, senior leadership team and members of the CSG Justice Center Advisory Board. rnBe responsive to the CSG executive director/CEO and CSG director of advancement to assist as needed in development activities for CSG. rnUtilize and support a unified CSG donor database and other management tools pursuant to guidelines established by the CSG director of advancement and provide advice and leadership to the CSG advancement team on how best to utilize technology to enhance productivity and success in development activities. rnRepresent the CSG executive director/CEO, the CSG Justice Center director, the CSG director of advancement, the executive committee and members of the CSG Justice Center Advisory Board in meetings with prospective and active donors. rnRepresent the CSG Justice Center director at meetings and events as the director determines appropriate. rnWork in close collaboration with the CSG Justice Center communications team and CSG communications team to coordinate external affairs activities for the benefit of CSG and the CSG Justice Center. rnServe as an enthusiastic ambassador for CSG and the CSG Justice Center helping to connect CSG's mission, values and work with donors.rnrnSKILLS AND ABILITIESrnrnExtensive familiarity with national grant-making institutions and processes. rnAbility to utilize pre-existing relationships with leaders in philanthropy, criminal justice policy and the private sector. rnDemonstrated success in developing and implementing fund development strategies to support multimillion-dollar initiatives. rnHistory of cultivating partnerships with institutions that increase access to prospective funders.rnAbility to design and implement innovative fundraising strategies that distinguish the organization from others working on similar issues.rnStrong writing, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.rnSkill and competence to work independently and to handle a variety of tasks and projects concurrently.rnAbility to work collaboratively with multiple external and internal partners.rnAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle politically sensitive work.rnAn understanding of politics and the processes through which local, state and federal government officials shape public policy; familiarity with criminal justice and public safety issues and an appreciation of how those issues intersect with politics.rnrnThe following organizational skills are also essential:rnrnInfluence: Experience conveying a vision to catalyze action.rnNavigation of complex organizations: Demonstrated ability to excel in organizations that have depended on significant funding from large private donors.
