has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Development Associate to support a growing national development team. The Development Associate will have the opportunity to provide administrative and fundraising support for the VP of International Development and Regional Directors across all regions. Communication, writing skills, and administrative skills are key components of this position. Top notch attention to detail, ability interact with prospects and donors, assist with tours, and provide development research and reporting. 40-hour work week plus occasional meetings outside work hours.

: Southeast Regional Director

Principal Responsibilities:

Prospect Management

. Oversees the prospect management process. Coordinates with all fundraisers on prospect management needs and processes, including tracking goals and priorities, and advising on the status of prospect management actions.

Prospect Research

: Provides prospect research and prospect identification. Gleans relevant information from a variety of resources about individuals, corporate, foundation, and other funders who are or may become contributors to MedShare.


Leads the creation and analysis of a variety of reports and lists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support all fundraising initiatives and events.

Conduct research as requested to prepare key staff members for meetings and tours.

Assist with general correspondence, stewardship, donor reports and proposals.

Provide assistance tracking development efforts and deadlines using the donor database, Raiser’s Edge.

Provide back-up support in donor database (Raiser’s Edge) and its functions.

Continuously assist with improvements of the quality of donor and volunteer data.

Respond to special donor requests.

Coordinate monthly meetings, including preparation and distribution of materials and minutes.

Ensure compliance with fundraising policies, goals and procedures.

Produce prospect research profiles for development officers and for pre-event analysis.

Produce appropriate stewardship pieces and identify new ways to steward donors.

Provide data analysis for fundraising and strategic planning.

Where appropriate, help identify accommodations, transportation options, and special programs for VIP visitors.

Provide event coordination and assistance as needed. This may require travel to New York and San Francisco.

Other duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in development services functions and office management experience.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience working with Raiser’s Edge donor database.

Excellent attention to detail and conscientious ability to meet deadlines.

Passion for community service, international development, and MedShare’s mission.

Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and/or projects simultaneously while addressing the needs of the office.

Ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Highly organized, self-starter with good interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to anticipate needs, see opportunities and use good judgment in dealing with confidential information.

Ability to analyze and review operational procedures, identify problem areas and optimize performance through procedural changes.

Proficiency in communicating effectively, including strong writing ability.

Fluency in English is required and knowledge of Spanish and/or French is desired

Experience living or working with diverse groups, international experience is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of fundraising principles and practice.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Ability to perform multiple detail-oriented tasks effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
