Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, the Development Manager is a key member of the fundraising team. The Development Manager is responsible for raising funds to achieve The Haven of Grace’s mission each year; managing and overseeing the volunteer program, gift management, stewardship, and special event support. This position is salaried and exempt.


Raise funds and meet budgetary goals for both expenses and income

Develop relationships with key stakeholders utilizing a long term relationship approach

Gift Processing

Develop and implement best practices

Utilize best practices to manage donor database

Track, review and ensure accurate record keeping and provide reports

Develop and manage stewardship practices

Manage all in-kind donations, including Holiday Adopt-a-Family program

Volunteer Management

Plan, develop, support volunteer program

Recruit and on-board all volunteers (groups, individuals, and special event volunteers)

Create and execute a volunteer stewardship plan

Recruit and manage all third-party fundraisers

Support communications plan by creating mailings, email blasts, social media posts, press releases, and website content as assigned by the Director of Development

Support all development activities including special events, community partner events, grants management, etc.

Be a positive ambassador for The Haven of Grace


1 years’ experience in a nonprofit development office or volunteer management

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Non-profit Management or a related field or related experience

Database management experience (Giftworks, etc.)

Experience in desktop publishing, web development, online marketing, and SEO

Experience working with volunteers

Must have own vehicle and possess a current, valid driver’s license and meet The Haven of Grace requirements for insurance


Highly positive and enthusiastic style capable of motivating others

Relationship management skills and experience

Meet scheduled deadlines and perform routine tasks with minimal supervision

Approaches all issues with a win-win attitude that respects the dignity of all parties

Excellent project management and planning skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong internet research and PC skills using Microsoft

Forward-thinking and enthusiastic to contribute to high level strategy

Comfortable serving as a role model and preference for working in a faith-based environment

Culturally competent and sensitive to the issues facing low-income, urban households
