The Major Gifts Officer is entrusted with responsibility for the recognition and stewardship of individual major donors and institutional gifts to the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..The incumbent sets goals, monitors work and evaluates results to ensure that departmental and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Incumbent reports to the Vice President for Advancement.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManagementOversees the acquisition of major capital assets, through the development of regional promotional and multichannel marketing programs;Develops and implements an annual plan for identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects for major and planned gifts;Conducts market research and works with the Vice President for Advancement to provide strategic information and guidance to assist in developing goals, plans, and procedures.Ensures that major gift records and reports are compiled and maintained; Collects, analyzes and reports data; Prepares reports, presentations and proposals as required to internal and external community members, alumni, individual donors, corporations, foundations and others.Engages with the Raisers Edge database at least two (2) to three (3) times a week in order to record and track donor cultivation and solicitation progress. A working proficiency in the Raisers Edge platform is expected within four (4) to six (6) months of hire.LeadershipProvides effective training, support and leadership to faculty, staff, and volunteers leaders to meet annual and long-term financial goals;Actively seeks out opportunities to be involved in the community; serves as an ambassador for philanthropy; andOrganizes or participates in other initiatives to promote the University and to build a culture of philanthropy among the UDC community.InnovationDevelops innovative recognition opportunities and materials and events for continuity and donor stewardship; utilizes technology to increase efficiency, productivity and market reach; andCommunicates with purpose, applying a process, and facilitating donor engagement and meaningful interactions.Minimum Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the areas of business management, non-profit management, fundraising, philanthropy or a related field required. Graduate and/or professional degree preferred;Five (5) years of progressive responsible professional experience in fundraising and/or planned giving and progressively responsible program management;Documented, successful experience in campaign development and execution with success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts of $25,000 and above from individual, foundation and corporate prospects; Excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to cultivate and solicit high net worth individuals and their advisors; strong and effective oral and written communication skills required; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a goal-oriented team environment;Expertise, experience and a deep understanding of the importance of various forms of donor communication such as updates, newsletters or brochures.The proven ability to solicit and close financial agreements with donors is essential;Proficient in the use of technology required (Raisers Edge, Research Point, Foundation Search, Crescendo) and previous donor management software experience; familiarity with Blackbaud Raisers Edge software preferred;Marketing/brand development experience.
