Job Description Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Annual Giving Officer (AGO) will assist the Director of Annual Giving in carrying out the designated duties and responsibilities for the Universityu00e2??s annual giving program with a focus on long-term, multi-year objectives for growth in revenue and participation. Primary responsibilities require intense focus on building relationships through one-on-one visits and on-going communication with assigned prospects, donors, and volunteers to develop giving strategies, design proposals, and solicit and close upper tier annual gifts. The AGO is expected to travel to conduct 175 face-to-face visits and solicitations with both donors and volunteers, as well as leverage telephone, email and digital or social media outreach to solicit annual gifts in the range of $1,000 to $10,000 and higher. The AGO will have a portfolio of up to 300 prospects. On a yearly basis, the AGO closes $300,000 (using a 3-year rolling average). Additionally, the AGO will lead and manage assigned reunion giving programs for Virginia Tech, celebrating class or affinity group reunions which may include young alumni up through the 50th reunion and beyond. Reunion program management includes developing and implementing an 18-month strategic fundraising plan for selected reunion programs, including the coordination and stewardship of volunteers as part of the reunion leadership / committees. Minimum Qualifications Bacheloru00e2??s degree and experience, or Masteru00e2??s degree. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of fundraising. Preferred Qualifications Fundraising or similar experience at a university or other comparable organization or equivalent professional experience in sales, marketing, training, or public relations. Preference given to candidates possessing an understanding and working knowledge of relational database systems. Preference for experience with cold calling. Prior work in either annual giving or special event fundraising. Preference given to candidates with experience in higher education. Preference given to experience in personal one-on-one solicitation fundraising.
