As the Executive Director and Lead Fundraiser of this nonprofit, you work under the general direction of the Foundation Board by serving as the Chief Executive Officer. You will be responsible for the overall management of the Foundation, ensuring the legal and ethical integrity of the Foundation and for the effective conduct of its affairs by participating in the formulation and implementation of the organization’s mission, goals, objectives and related policies. You will work with general and active management of the business of the Foundation in accordance with the adopted policies and the direction and instruction of the Board.
As the Executive Director, you will also partner with the Board to create and implement overall fundraising strategies and to identify, establish and foster relationships with stakeholders to increase revenue that allows for the expansion of opportunities.
Demonstrate leadership and communications skills in ensuring development and implementation of strategy for the Foundation's overall programmatic, financial and operational systems, processes and practices, specifically:
Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission.
Foster and maintain a close working partnership and strong alliance with the goals and mission of the ASMBS.
Participate with the Board in setting strategy and direction through the development of short term and long-range strategic goals and the implementation of activities/programs to achieve these goals.
Oversee the Board's operation, organization, communication and administration.
Identify issues and policies that need executive action and ensure that the Board is kept apprised of information necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.
Maintain continuous lines of communication with the president, keeping him/her informed of all critical issues, updates and concerns.
Prepare the annual budget in consultation with the President and Treasurer, with focus on revenue/solicitation projections.
Ensure fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the Board approved budget, maximum resource utilization and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
Ensure the maintenance of official records and documents.
Establish and oversee the Foundation's organizational and staff infrastructure that supports the effective and efficient delivery of programs and services and the accomplishment of goals and objectives.
Manage recruitment, hiring and development of staff. Provide leadership, supervise, set quality standards and evaluate performance.
Motivate and maintain a diverse and cohesive staff, ensuring that there is strong internal communication and coordination.
Assess current fundraising efforts to identify potential for expanded and new avenues of revenue growth.
Work closely with the President and Board to develop a strategic plan to promote growth and to implement annual giving programs, capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving and special events programs.
Identify corporate and Foundation prospects and conduct research to determine interest and giving potential.
Develop and manage a portfolio of major giving prospects and donors.
Advance key solicitations and the closing of principal gifts.
Strengthen the Foundation's brand among current and prospective donors.
Prepare the annual development budget, with focus on revenue/solicitation projections.
Develop and manage timelines and tracking for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
Provide regular updates/fundraising reports to the Board of Directors.
Identify with the Board opportunities for donor cultivation events; and manage their planning and execution.
Create fundraising-oriented promotional materials with communications/marketing staff.
Determine and define donor recognition opportunities.
Oversee compliance with local, state and federal laws necessary to keep the Foundation in good standing and maintaining its legal status.
The ideal candidate will have 6 years of non-profit development experience in roles of progressive responsibility with a proven track record. Experience in small and large development office settings is helpful. BA Degree in non-profit management/fundraising is required; Master's preferred.

Has experience working with and supporting a Board of Directors.
Has managerial experience, demonstrating a collaborative supervisory style.
Has advanced computer skills, including mastery of Microsoft Office, and strong knowledge of fundraising database systems like EXCEED.
