Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fund development plan, made up of major, business, annual and planned giving programs in an effort to support the short and long term strategic plan and goals of the organization.

Will oversee and strengthen community and donor relationships, awareness and education in an effort to promote support for the Foundation and Hospital in the community.

The Director assures funds are raised and utilized in accordance with applicable laws, and donor wishes

Education

Baccalaureate degree in marketing, communications, public relations or business-related field required.

Essential Functions

1.

Forge strong working relationships with the Foundation Board, CEO, Hospital board, key volunteers, and senior leadership for the comprehensive development, administration and evaluation of the Foundation and fundraising efforts.

2.

Responsible for the leadership, management, planning and implementation of programs, projects and activities designed to seek, receive and administer charitable contributions to the Foundation for the benefit of the hospital.

3.

Assist the Foundation board in the development and implementation of a Foundation strategic plan each year that aligns and supports the GPHealth strategic plan.

4.

Cultivate and strengthen positive relationships with existing donors, potential donors, physicians, board members, GPHealth employees and community leaders.

5.

Manage, with the Foundation chair and Foundation committee chairs, committee work, including recruitment and development of volunteers, meeting management and the directing of development and fundraising efforts.

6.

Supervise Foundation support staff and manage internal operations for gift receiving, receipting, acknowledging and recording; oversee network systems for support of Foundation programs.

7.

Track and monitor fundraising programs, including financial reporting and giving dashboards, regularly reporting results to Foundation Board

8.

Manage department and foundation finances, including annual department and foundation operating budget; coordinate requests and applications for grants in support of hospital projects.

9.

Have a strong understanding of Foundation financial management and oversight of funds including endowments and investments, as well as financial reporting.

10.

Coordinate and supervise all Foundation special events and donor recognition events.

11.

Perform research on grant funds available from public and private sources in addition to writing and submitting grant applications for health related projects.

12.

Stay current with trends, innovations, issues and best practices in development, board relations, fundraising and the health care industry.

Candidates should possess a considerable knowledge of the local and surrounding communities within our service area and the people and resources available in them.

A high level of communication skill is required.

Candidates must possess the ability to write effectively and creatively and be an accomplished public speaker and participant in a variety of discussions and negotiations.

Assignments are received in the form of broad goals or areas of responsibility.

Considerable latitude in setting policies as well as financial and operating plans is vital.
