The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program. The program includes individual and broad-based solicitations, with face-to-face visits; direct mail; email/web; phone; crowdfunding; and other channels. In addition, the Director is responsible for unrestricted and restricted/expendable funds raised via annual giving efforts; increasing Adelphi’s undergraduate alumni participation rate; and engaging volunteers (chiefly alumni, but also parents of current students and students themselves) in annual giving programs and activities.
We seek an experienced fundraiser to build strategic and tactical plans for achieving goals for annual funds raised and alumni participation in annual giving. In this hands on role, you will maximize the utilization of annual giving vendors (e.g. phonathon vendor; direct/e-mail vendor; crowdfunding vendor; etc.) and develop a strong pipeline of major and planned gift prospects via engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors. We seek an experienced, outgoing leader who will manage a portfolio of individual donors with annual goals for personal visits and giving outcomes at and above the $1,000 level, preparing solicitation strategies as well as creating a strong volunteer (alumni; parents; students; faculty; staff) structure within annual giving. Additionally, you will report, track and forecast results as well as analyze data from annual giving activities plus implement a robust communications plan for annual giving activities, implementing stewardship programs and activities for annual donors. Supervising staff, as well as training Advancement and Alumni Relations staff also required.
We seek candidates with strong managerial, leadership, and supervisory skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and creatively solve problems. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in face-to-face solicitations. Occasional night and weekend work may be required and some travel. Bachelor’s Degree required with seven years of progressively responsible experience in managing/leading annual giving programs, experience in working with volunteers and with Raiser’s Edge (preferred) or similar CRM required. Knowledge of and familiarity with Moves Management ™ preferred. Master’s Degree or professional certification (e.g. CFRE) and experience in higher education fundraising preferred.
