Position Summary

The Manager of Annual Giving and Major Gifts is primarily responsible for helping to build a culture of community and philanthropy at Pacific Ridge School (PRS) through the strategic planning, execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program. The Manager will work on a yearly basis to meet or exceed the PRS Annual Fund budgeted goal, increase total annual giving revenue and grow participation rates across constituencies. In addition, the Manager will have a keen understanding for the foundation of annual giving as the enabling component of successful major gift programs and will help identify and cultivate major gift prospects. This position reports to the Executive Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations.

In consultation with the Executive Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, the following are the Manager’s essential duties and responsibilities:

Annual Giving

Plan and implement a comprehensive Annual Fund appeal to all members of the PRS community, including current and former trustees and parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends.

Develop and oversee a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies, including direct mail, email, social media, phonathons, texting platforms, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.

Organize constituency segmentation and target solicitation amounts.

Oversee the design and implementation of all Annual Fund appeal material, including print and digital. This includes brochure copy, solicitation and acknowledgement letters, newsletter articles, onsite promotional materials and more.

Plan and execute donor giving levels that will appropriately recognize the School’s most generous donors and help inspire and motivate increased support.

In close partnership with the Alumni Relations/Events Manager, develop and oversee a coordinated alumni giving plan that includes the Annual Fund, Alumni Day of Giving, reunion giving, class agent structure, senior gift program and more.

Recruit, support and supervise an expansive Annual Fund volunteer network. Send regular updates, respond promptly to volunteer inquiries and ensure volunteers have necessary tools for success.

Analyze annual giving data frequently to make sure goals are being met and adjust strategies where necessary.

Acts as a spokesperson on behalf of the Annual Fund where needed. Be able to articulate a compelling case for support.

Oversee the online and mobile giving presence.

Oversee Annual Fund acknowledgement protocols and pledge reminder system.

Oversee annual giving and major gift donor recognition events and annual volunteer events

Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to produce the Annual Report. Final proofing responsibility for all annual giving lists.

Prepare statistical and analytical reports and information on annual giving for internal analysis and external benchmarking.

Attend monthly Development Strategy Board Committee and provide necessary materials and support.

Assist Executive Director with planning and executing new parent orientation as it relates to philanthropy at the school.

Major Gifts

Identify new major gift prospects through annual giving. Help build connections between and among prospective donors and school leadership through events, programs and associated circles.

Assist in prospect research, including preparing research reports for briefing tools and adding background material to database records.

Plan and implement annual fundraising for PRS Opportunity Grants, including solicitation materials, events, and donor acknowledgements.

As a member of the Philanthropy Office team, the Manager of Annual Giving and Major Gifts may be asked to perform other tasks and assist with other projects and events as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university with five or more years additional experience in successful fundraising. Strong preference for fundraising experience in independent school or higher education setting.
