Home Instead Senior Care® is looking for an innovative and entrepreneurial executive to serve as Executive Director for our Service Year Initiative. WHAT IS THE SERVICE YEAR INITIATIVE?Home Instead Senior Care® envisions a world where all older adults can age with greater hope and success. We initiated the Changing the Face of Aging movement to inspire the world to adopt a more optimistic perspective on aging. Daily we see the struggles aging seniors and their families face and we feel a sense of responsibility to be a leading force uniting the public, private and social sectors to help solve the challenges of our aging global society. Members of the Home Instead, Inc. executive team have participated in conferences and engaged other organizations to discuss ideas, present solutions and advocate change that will enhance the lives of seniors and their caregivers around the world.We are beginning to work on creating a service year program that engages young adults in a full-time paid opportunity to work on strategies and activities that inspire a generation of change agents committed to changing the face of aging and expanding the world’s capacity to care. We are seeking an Executive Director to help us develop, launch, and scale this initiative. WHAT MAKES THIS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY?As Executive Director, you’re the primary leader, strategist, and external champion for a start-up initiative. You have the opportunity to cultivate and manage a vibrant and impact-driven initiative and make the program a premier and recognized leader in cultivating a pipeline for talented civic change agents committed to changing the face of aging and expanding the world's capacity to care. In addition, you’re responsible for ensuring operational and programmatic excellence, management of personnel, fund development\/fundraising, strategic planning and external relationship building with partners, funders, and other stakeholders. Once the 501(c)(3) is established, you would also have oversight of operational and financial management to ensure organizational sustainability ensuring the initiative meets its annual, operating, and long-term goals. The position reports directly to the Chief Brand Officer. ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITIONLeadership: Work with Home Instead leadership to bring to fruition the vision and organizational structure needed to support the program model. Provide sound organizational oversight and develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan. Responsible for communicating effectively with Leadership and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary to make informed decisions. Work with Leadership in order to fulfill the organizational mission. Strategy & Operations: Ensure that the initiative's mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach. Oversee and implement appropriate systems and resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are sound. Design systems and frameworks to set priorities and manage organizational performance against outcomes. Support innovations and create partnerships that improve program quality, expand program impact, and encourage program growth and sustainability.Financial Management: Responsible for fiscal management to operate within the approved budget, ensure maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position. Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to ensure the financial health of the organization. Meet annual and long-term revenue goals. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and manage strategic relationships with funders. Build a sustainable revenue model based on philanthropic, government, and corporate sources. Manage fiscally sound budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and cash flow. Program Management: Ensure ongoing program excellence and rigorous program evaluation to ensure high quality implementation of the service delivery model. Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.Personnel Management: Lead, coach, and directly manage staff and service year corps members. Build a high performing team. Establish effective succession and retention plans.Community & Public Relations: Lead the organization to establish visibility and brand awareness of work through local and national exposure. Oversee the development and communication of a strong, positive message to all external constituents. Establish and maintain relationships with major local internal and external stakeholders. THE IDEAL CANDIDATEBachelor's degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred (ex. MBA, MPA).10 years of professional experience in progressively senior positions, with a solid track record of building an organization and exceeding goals.Experience with or participation in a service program (AmeriCorps, military, Peace Corps, Teach For America, etc.) highly preferred.Passionate and deep belief in the power of service years to tackle our most pressing challenges, transform the lives of those who serve, and change the course of our country.Strong desire to be part of a new mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of corps members and the clients it serves.Strategic action-oriented leader who can inspire others to build a social movement geared toward individuals taking control of their aging journey. Excellence in organizational management and experience overseeing a complex enterprise at a high level of responsibility.Innovative and entrepreneurial. Comfort with ambiguity and change; ability to thrive in a fast-paced and start-up environment.Capacity to both effectively manage the organization to success in its current state and to lead future growth to maximize impact.High level of organizational and political sophistication, especially as it relates to connecting programs to funding, creatively generating other resources, and building collaborative and strategic partnerships. Preferably including experience developing and implementing public-private partnerships to achieve community-wide social and economic goals.Proven skills and experience in fundraising and\/or sales; the ability to meet total annual revenue goals.Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.Cultural competency, emotional intelligence, and experience and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.Strong communication, listening, and public speaking skills, and the polish, poise, gravitas, and humility needed to powerfully represent Home Instead’s mission and vision both internally and externally.Ability to relate to and inspire young adults and motivate others to action.The Home Instead Senior Care® network provides personalized care, support and education to help enhance the lives of aging adults and their families.
