Responsibilities The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Development Director for our Go Red For Women event in ourMidwest Affiliateoffice located in Des Moines, Iowa . The Development Director, Go Red For Women (GRFW) is responsible and accountable for recruitment, training, campaign goal and management activities to ensure efficient growth and development of the assigned GRFW luncheon and other local events.The GRFW Director is responsible for securing local sponsorship income, individual donations and auction items, in partnership with the immediate supervisor to support the events and to maximize overall income potential.GRFW Director will work as part of a team while adhering to specific u201cBest Practicesu201d and staying with the American Heart Associationu2019s fundraising cost guidelines. Essential Job Duties: Providestaff support in planning, development, maintenance, implementation andevaluation of the Go Red For Women events in the metro area. Assure that the vision and strategic direction for the Go Red For Women events are in alignment with theorganizationu2019s goals and objectives. Providestaff support in the area of volunteer recruitment and training, event logistics, year-round planning, cultivation, and sponsorship and auctionitem solicitation for the Go Red For Women events. Supports in developing, monitoring, an annual working plan withdollar and volunteer recruitment goals, budget and timelines for the events.Developcontingency plans, as needed to successfully complete fundraisingactivities. Securessponsorships, individual donations and auction items. Develop profiles on the top businesses within the assigned geographic area with a documented plan to secure their involvement.Completes company goal setting worksheets and prioritizes companies by their potential. Develop relationship-building strategies to include makingpersonal visits on a monthly and quarterly basis.Developeffective working relationship with high level-executives and individualdonors. Must have at least 2 years of experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity.This experience may also count towards satisfying this positionu2019s educational requirement. Knowledge of community organization, sales, fundraising, and marketing principles, practices, techniques, and trends. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training.Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations and similar narrative pieces. Ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports.Skill in use of spreadsheet/database analysis. Ability to do daily travel up to 75% and overnight travel up to 25%. Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2010 or higher used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing. Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds withthe expectation that items in excess of 20 pounds would be broken down intosmaller components or additional assistance is required before lifting and/ormoving.
