I. Overview of Tasks and Responsibilities

This staff member must show an ability to develop connections with key funding sources, develop new and potential sources, and maintain a network of individuals, foundations, associations, business leaders, and government officials that will facilitate fund development efforts. With the backing and support of senior management, the Director of Fund Development must have an ability to develop intra-agency relationships and staff support of development efforts to include Board of Trustees involvement. Entrepreneurial spirit and desire to develop new business ideas is a plus.

A Director is a senior-level management position within the agency that has a broad scope of responsibility and depth of authority to provide the planning, budgeting, and on-going development of an array of services. A Director is responsible to ensure services are provided in accordance with current policies and procedures, and when necessary acts to help develop those policies and procedures to ensure agency services are provided within the current legal and ethical parameters prescribed. A Director also acts to ensure that development and modification of policies and procedures is accomplished with the intent of maintaining or enhancing effectiveness and efficiency. Problem solving and time management skills are essential to the functioning of a Director. Attendance at agency functions and agency representation to community groups, businesses, and organizations is expected. A Director is also responsible for maintaining current funding sources and aggressively developing new sources as opportunity allows.

II. Essential Functions

Responsible for the planning and execution for everything related to fundraising and events associated with CommQuest such as:

The development and execution for the capital, operational, annual fund drive and programmatic gifts

Develops on-going relationships with key donors and organizations in the community.

Responsible for the successful planning and execution of the following: list the events

Acts to implement long-range planning initiatives and collaborate with other departments/programs to assist in meeting their goals.

Acts to advance and foster a corporate culture of collaboration, dignity, and respect, as established by the senior management team.

Act to ensure the conduct and support for fundraising efforts are in accordance with COA, CARF, OMHAS, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals

Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice

Meets with appropriate management to assess agency needs for both the coming years and long-range planning initiatives (or funding cycles) to determine feasible amounts for fundraising goals.

Establish tracking mechanisms and data base supports with which routine reports and evaluative information can be generated for measuring progress, outcomes, and effectiveness of fund raising efforts for the purpose of goal monitoring and continuous improvement efforts.

Acts to facilitate communication within and amongst departments and programs.

Acts to advance and foster a corporate culture of collaboration, dignity, and respect, as established by the senior management team.

Develops budgets and monitors progress of budget from month-to-month to ensure revenues/expenditures are in line with projections.

Objectively evaluates and documents performance of assigned staff members.

Provides administrative reports, charts, exhibits, etc., to CEO/Board.

Attends relevant university events and meetings, some during the evenings and weekends; represents the university to external constituents.

Functioning as an integral part of the senior management team, sharing the organization vision, and doing whatever is necessary so that the Missionis achieved.

III. Interpersonal Competencies

Seeks resources for direction when necessary.

Practices within legal and ethical guidelines established by OMHAS, CARF, COA, CommQuest Services, and other applicable licensing/credentialing bodies.

Works collaboratively with other professions, departments, agencies, client collaterals, and community entities to ensure the client and agency’s needs are met.

Demonstrates honest and respectful communication with both co-workers and clients in order to optimize a trauma informed care environment which includes emotional, psychological, and physical safety.

IV. Defined Goals

As the Director of Fund Development, specific goals must be outlined for achievement. These goals will be determined with the CEO, VP of Finance and Board members.

V. Minimum Credentials, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for Competency

The Director of Fund Development must have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum five years’ demonstrated experience in fund development. Supervisory experience is highly desired. A solid track record of effectiveness in meeting annual and long-range goals. Ability to effectively interact with a variety of people and cultures. Fluently communicates in English. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent follow up skills. Detail oriented, professional behavior, and self-motivated.
