Purchase College, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) network of 64 universities and colleges, is situated on 550 acres in Westchester County. The college of 4,200 students is unique among public institutions as it combines highly renowned professional and conservatory programs with distinguished liberal arts and sciences programs. Purchase College is the cultural gem of the SUNY system known for its art conservatories, art museum, and performing arts center and program.

The Purchase College (the College), Office of Institutional Advancement, is seeking an experienced, energetic, and entrepreneurial Director of Development for the Arts (the Director) to work within the School of the Arts and The Performing Arts Center Foundation. The successful candidate must be committed to and enthusiastic about the arts and have desire to work in an environment that celebrates individuality, diversity, and creativity in a community of educational excellence.

The Director will build meaningful relationships with constituents that result in closing significant major gifts. S/he will build genuine relationships, and be skilled in the process of identifying prospects and donors to move them along the continuum of engagement. The Director will create a donor-centered environment aligned with the direction of the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

The successful candidate will inspire donors, have superior interpersonal skills that build confidence amongst colleagues and donors, and possess the empathy and listening skills to foster relationships and trust.

The Director of Development will report directly to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and will work closely with and collaborate with the Dean of the School of the Arts and the Director of The Performing Arts Center. In addition the Director will supervise and counsel the Associate Director of Development for the Arts. S/he will be motivated and passionate about philanthropy and committed to providing first-rate, donor-centered service.
