Profile

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. GBFB’s mission is to End Hunger Here in eastern Massachusetts, and our strategic objective is to provide at least ONE MEAL A DAY to everyone in need in eastern Massachusetts.

GBFB is looking for an Individual Gifts Manager to join its fundraising team. The Individual Gifts Manager (IGM) is a front-line fundraising position responsible for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding GBFB’s Mid-Level Program to reach revenue goals. This program includes the Harvesters Circle, a program for donors who begin their relationship with GBFB with a first-time gift of $1,000 or more cumulatively in a fiscal year.

The IGM works closely with the Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving and the Senior Individual Gifts Manager to coordinate overall fundraising strategies for Mid-Level gifts ($1,000 - $9,999) from individuals. Responsibilities include, relationship management, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The IGM will be responsible for a portfolio of approximately 150 donors. The IGM will work collaboratively as part of the individual fundraising team to build and execute a comprehensive donor strategy for the Mid-Level segment that complements other individual giving segment strategies.

Responsibilities:

Mid-Level Program Management

: Develop and implement the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of $1,000 - $9,999 donors and prospects through donor modeling data. Manage the stewardship communications for Harvesters Circle members to strengthen engagement with donors. Proactive outreach to donors and prospects. Collaborate with team members to include Mid-Level donors in cultivation events and facilitate upgrading of Mid-Level donors to Major Gift levels. Ensure that Mid-Level revenue goals are met.

Gift Processing and Database Management

: Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Donor Services to develop appropriate coding in Raiser's Edge to ensure ease of reporting on Mid-Level donor segment. Work with Donor Services to ensure accurate response reporting and analysis and make sure the database accurately reflects donor preferences and restrictions.

Administration

: Develop and manage annual projections for a portfolio of Mid-Level donors, including revenue forecasting and donor segmenting. Assist with donor pledge mailings and communications.

Collaboration

: Collaborate with other Development and Marketing Managers to ensure coordinated and integrated development strategies including e-solicitation, newsletters, and community outreach.

Harvest News

: Collaborate with marketing team on Harvest News mailings and emails of GBFB’s monthly e-newsletter as a fundraising and/or cultivation package.

Other

: Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Serves as an active member of the Revenue Team, contributing to goal setting, revenue generation and the refinement of processes and procedures. Provide on and offsite support for GBFB events and other activities as needed. Have fun and treat donors and colleagues with integrity and respect.

Demonstrated track record of fundraising success.

Strong financial analysis skills essential for budgeting and fundraising data analysis.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to honor confidentiality.

Strictly adhere to AFP guidelines and honor each donor’s intent.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required (master’s degree a plus)

Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience managing annual fund or leadership gift programs encompassing donor visits, mail and electronic giving.

More than two years fundraising experience working with $1,000 plus donors and demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors.

Demonstrated success achieving revenue goals.

Proven ability to handle multiple projects, as well as plan, conduct and evaluate programs and projects.

Experience with audience segmentation, donor modeling and overlays, appeal testing, and donor databases. Raiser’s Edge database experience preferred.

Ability and willingness to travel within Massachusetts.

Genuine appreciation of GBFB’s mission and the ability to communicate it.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Ability to meet physical requirements related to agency distribution or event execution as needed. This may include setting up tables and chairs, moving things, lifting boxes of cans that weigh 25 pounds, loading and unloading cars, etc.

Ability to sit up to 3 hours at a time

Ability to work within in an open air/cubicle environment
