The Director of Development will work closely with Casa's Executive Director to build and implement a comprehensive fundraising program. The Director of Development will oversee all aspects of our fundraising strategy, with responsibility for identifying, cultivating, and securing contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations. This is a new position for Casa and the person in this role will have to be a self-starter and able to build funding relationships from the ground up.
The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director, acts as part of our management team, and will work closely with the Board of Directors to support their involvement in fundraising.
Create and implement a comprehensive development strategy and plan for Casa, partnering with the management team and Board of Directors as needed to ensure appropriate goals, benchmarks, action plans, and follow-through.
Cultivate, solicit and steward donors across all sectors: individuals, corporation and foundations
Craft and execute plan to increase annual giving revenue
Foster engagement in fundraising efforts among Casa's Board of Directors.
Manage the identification of donor prospects, creating and tracking solicitation strategies
Develop and maintain key long-term relationships with donors and prospects, with an emphasis on growing our individual donor base and cultivating major gifts.
Manage the execution of Casa's fundraising events.
Manage and draft grant applications to corporate and private foundations
Qualifications and Skills
You have experience in nonprofit fund development, with demonstrated success in raising funds from a variety of revenue streams, including individual and major donors, and growing an organization's funding base. You possess knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques. You are excited by entrepreneurial challenges and the chance to set the vision that will advance our development program. Prior experience or familiarity with philanthropic communities in Greater Portland is considered a plus.
You are an organized and team-oriented project-manager, with demonstrated success in guiding groups through the effective planning and implementation of development strategies.
You are a skilled communicator, with the ability to share an effective message through compelling oral communications and written materials, and you are a strong listener. Experience with social media strategies is considered a plus.

You are comfortable working in a small team environment and taking on both strategic and tactical responsibilities, and you demonstrate flexibility, humility, and a sense of humor.
Marketing and/or non-profit experience preferred.

Willingness to travel locally to donor or networking meetings.
Minimum of BA/BS degree.
