This role leads and orchestrates the annual gala and other special events as the cornerstone activities to secure sponsorships for event-based programs ($10,000 ) and major gifts ($25,000 ). The Advancement Officer is responsible for developing a major gifts pipeline, including the creation, management, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of 50-75 major donors and prospects with capacity to make gifts of $25,000 or more. This role is instrumental in the development of strategies for successful fundraising in targeted West Coast regions including Los Angeles and San Francisco. Working within the Global Engagement and Communications Office (GECO), the Advancement Officer is a key member of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.u2019s fundraising team who will inform and support the fundraising activities conducted by colleagues as well as a variety of internal stakeholders, including the senior leadership team and Advisory Board. Responsibilities Events Management Team lead for Gala, Trip to the Field, and other major **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. events as priority friendaising and fundraising efforts for the organization.u00a0 Planning, execution, budgeting and evaluation of events from start to finish. Overall event timeline and calendar to serve as the guide post for all internal and volunteer efforts (e.g., Gala host committee) including roles, responsibilities and timeline for execution. Produces detailed event logistics (e.g. day-of timeline, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing and budgets). Secures, books and manages the venue(s) including the contract process, caterers and equipment needs. Organizes event set up mindful of room layout, entertainment and AV/tech needs. Secures speakers or special guests. Implements follow up engagement strategies with newly or highly engaged participants in conjunction with the Director of Advancement. Coordinates volunteer recruitment, training (e.g., event registration) and committee participation. Oversees event promotional activities in concert with Communications by developing a communications plan, inclusive of social media outreach; collaborates with the Communications team to create the necessary event materials (e.g., invitations, tickets). Updates constituent files in database; reports on event ROI including giving. Maintains open communications with department personnel and colleagues; responds to and liaises with other departments and program managers when needed.u00a0 u00a0 Gala Specific In conjunction with the Vice President, Director of Advancement and the Advisory Board chair, identifies individuals to be considered as the Gala event honoree and/or award recipients; collaborates with leadership to make the asks. Volunteer leadership recruitment, training and oversight of all related volunteer committees to ensure successful implementation of special event action plans. Leadership recruitment may include Advisory Board members, internal staff members and Senior Leaders and corporate staff as assigned by a Gala honoree. Works with the event honorees, hosts and/or award recipients to secure corporate sponsorships and a personal distribution list of VIP guests. Manages the Gala host committee meetings and delegates responsibilities as appropriate to produce a best-in-class event. Develops and executes the strategy for u201cin-roomu201d giving ask during the event. u00a0 Major Gifts Executes donor engagement and sponsorship strategies to fulfill the annual major gifts event fundraising goal. Manages a major gift portfolio of 35-50 prospects and donors living in the Los Angeles and San-Francisco Bay area. Engages, cultivates, solicits and stewards individuals and corporations to participate in events as outright major gift donors or as sponsors. Works collaboratively with the Advancement Manager -- East Coast to engage, solicit, cultivate and steward individuals outside of event participation. Supports the President and CEO and other leadership members in their all-around fundraising efforts with major gift donors and sponsors. Serves as the day-to-day contact for West Coast based Advisory Board members, supplementing the efforts of the Director of Advancement. Performs duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement. Staff liaison for Advisory Board, Trip to the Field Committee. Priorities u00a0 Gala, Trip to the Field and events management: 60% Major gift, planned gift, and leadership annual gift fundraising: 30% Board liaison activities: 10% Required Qualifications Bacheloru2019s degree required in fundraising, marketing, or a related field preferred. Minimum of five years of progressive experience with major gifts, with a proven track record of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors ($10,000 plus) and corporate sponsorships in the range of $10,000 to $100,000 .u00a0 Minimum of three yearsu2019 experience in event management. Highly motivated and proactive; independent self-starter and an entrepreneur who can work with little direction and with a u201cleanu201d staff. Detailed oriented, with the ability to multitask and run a best-in-class event. Strong oral and written communication skills. Professional demeanor, with abilities to keep information confidential and interact with varying levels of leadership across the organization. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Publisher, Access, PowerPoint). Significant experience with donor software systems (Raiseru2019s Edge).
